Considering what some people spend, I haven't put that much money into my backyard poultry. Just their feed, their oyster shells 'n' grit, and oh yeah, the poultry themselves. But we're getting so many eggs now—anywhere from 1 to 5 a day—that I finally put a sign in the window:
Yeah, that's right, I'm charging $4/dozen. Here in Humboldt Co., anyway, that's comparable to what you'd pay for a 12-pack of factory-farmed eggs.
We had our first sale Saturday.
Thanks, poultry people!
